Council and Democracy

Postal voting and proxy voting

You can now have a postal vote on demand so you do not have to give a reason for having it. Postal votes can be obtained for:

  • a particular election
  • a defined period of time
  • indefinitely

To apply for proxy votes you still need to give a reason and if you are applying indefinitely someone qualified will have to certify that the reason is correct.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Since early 2007 regulations have required the Council to collect "personal identifiers" from all postal voters. These identifiers (signature and date of birth) are used to check postal votes cast at election time, in an attempt to prevent and detect electoral fraud and to protect your vote.

Applicants can fill in a postal vote or proxy vote application form below. Please make sure that you complete all parts of the form, as appropriate.

Once complete, please deliver the form to the Elections Office, Town Hall, St Aldate's, Oxford, OX1 1BX:
