Garages to Rent

Our garages to rent are only to be used as a domestic garage, to house a private motor vehicle, unless written permission is granted by Oxford City Council to use the garage to store bicycles, personal household items and/or garden items.

Cost

The rent is the same for all garages in the city:

  • Council Tenants: £11.80 per week
  • Non-council Tenants: £14.16 per week (£11.80+ VAT)
  • Discounts for disabled drivers - information available on request.

Priority will be given to people with disabilities and existing Council tenants.

Reduced rental charges for the Disabled and additional discounts are available if you are:

  • buying or leasing a car, or have bought a car through the Motability Scheme or privately
  • receive the Higher rate Disability Living Allowance with a mobility component

This does not apply automatically to all Blue Badge Holders. Tenants must prove they qualify for the reduced rent. Provide a copy of your car documents and benefit books to the Council.

Ending a Garage Rent Agreement

You must inform us that you are ending the tenancy and send this in writing to us using the form below:

You must give us notice of one calendar month.

You must make sure the garage is empty when you hand in the keys.

On-street Disabled Parking

Disabled drivers may be eligible for an on-street parking space if you do not have access to a garage. You cannot have both on-street parking and a garage. For information about on-street disabled parking contact visit the Blue Badge Scheme page of the Oxfordshire County Council website.
