Housing

Tenants' and Residents' Associations

What is a Tenants' and Residents' Association (TRA)?

This is a group of tenants and residents within a specific area, such as an estate, neighbourhood, ward or a community. It's made up of people who want to get together to discuss concerns or local issues, how to improve their area and have their say on decisions that may affect them.

What is the purpose of a Tenants' and Residents' Association (TRA)?

To work with Oxford City Council and other local partners, e.g. the Police and NHS, to ensure that tenant views shape the services they receive.

What are the benefits?

  • Tenants and residents can have a say on how their neighbourhood can be improved.
  • Meet new people from your local area and build new skills and friendships.
  • Find out more about how housing and other services are run.
  • Find out more about becoming part of a constituted group and what training is on offer to support you.

Who can be on a TRA?

All residents of Oxford are eligible to get involved and set up a constituted TRA. We welcome members from any age range or ethnic background, as long as you have an interest in your neighbourhood, we would love to hear from you.

Oxford City Council has supported the establishment of the below active TRA groups:

  • HART TRA
  • Donnington TRA
  • Rose Hill TRA
  • Salters Close/Whitehouse Rd TRA
  • Templars Square TRA
  • Churchill TRA
  • Lye Valley

To find out more about getting involved in an existing group or setting up a new TRA, please contact the Communities & Neighbourhoods Team on 01865 252839 or at communties@oxford.gov.uk
