Visit our What's On page for full details of upcoming events at the Museum of Oxford.

Hands-On Learning

We offer a range of workshops, activities, and KS1, KS2 & KS3 handling sessions for visiting groups. School workshops typically last 90 minutes, including 45 minutes handling session with a museum assistant and 45 minutes in the museum galleries with worksheets. Workshops cost £3 per child.

We are redeveloping the Museum of Oxford from 29 October 2011. The galleries close in their current location and a new gallery will open in the Town Hall in 2012. During this time, some of our services to schools will still be available. For more information download the Schools' Newsletter below.

Reminiscence Groups

The Museum of Oxford Reminiscence project (MOOR) is a brand new initiative delivering reminiscence sessions to groups of older people in Oxford city centre. Helen Fountain, Reminiscence Officer, will bring a collection of museum objects to sessions to stimulate discussions, encouraging participants to communicate with each other by sharing stories and memories in a fun and interactive way.

The sessions last for approximately 1 hour and groups can chose from a range of themes, including 'Fun and games', 'All dressed up' and 'Making your own entertainment'. Download the leaflet below for more information:

If you would like to discuss the project or are interested in hosting a session then please contact the Reminiscence Officer, Helen Fountain on 01865 252795.

Community Groups

Are you part of a group or know of one who would like to get involved with the Museum of Oxford?

We are looking to make links with local groups to carry out a number of exciting community based projects. This offer is open to all community groups based within the city regardless of age, background or ability.

Ever fancied creating a short film or soundtrack? How about designing a historic garden? Perhaps you might like to create your own exhibition or maybe you have an idea for a project you would like to do.

If so please contact the Community Engagement Officer, Neil Stevenson on 01865 252118.
