Heritage Assets are the parts of the environment that we value for the historic, archaeological, artistic and architectural interest. Where these are though to have special or national interest we can protect these as scheduled monuments, listed buildings and conservation areas.
However, many locally valued heritage assets do not meet the criteria for nation designation. By compiling a register of locally value heritage assets the Council can manage these using their planning policies and by promoting understanding of the things that make them valuable.
