Youth Job Fair - 19 August 2011

Recruitment fair

Friday 19 August 2011  -  10am - 5pm at Oxford Town Hall, St Aldate's, Oxford, OX1 1BX.

Leaving school, college or university or looking for employment in Oxfordshire?

Come along to our Youth Job Fair to:

  • meet employers with vacancies for entry level roles and offering apprenticeship opportunities
  • apply for the vacancies on offer
  • get help with writing CVs and completing application forms
  • get advice about job searches and interview techniques.

Opportunities on offer:

ABSL Space Products Ltd, Abingdon (aerospace/engineering)  -  vacancies in production department and apprenticeship scheme  launching soon.

BMW - MINI (manufacturing and engineering) - range of apprenticeships including: engineering maintenance, IT technician,wood apprenticeship for Rolls-Royce cars, leather apprenticeship for Rolls Royce, chemist, tool making, body and paint repair, industrial engineer, business technician - education opportunities from NVQ level 3 to foundation degree and full honours degree. 

Four Pillars Hotels - entry level roles - food and beverages in bar, restaurant, conference and banqueting, chefs and reception staff.

Oxfordshire County Council:

  • full and part-time posts in nurseries, pre-schools, after school clubs and play schemes  - also info on training and apprenticeships     
  • apprenticeships in business admin, civil engineering. general maintenance, health and social care, ICT professional, finance and outdoor education
  • Adult learning - apprenticeships in childcare, IT, customer services and business administration  
  • NVQs in childcare, customer services, health and social care, cleaning, business and administration, retail and IT.  

Hays Specialist Recruitment (recruitment consultant) - various entry level roles in office support, accounting and finance.

Hunts Printing - six print apprenticeships.

JTL - (electrical, plumbing, heating and ventilation) - apprenticeship training.

Interlinguae Ltd (translation company) - 2 internships, assistant translator, desktop publishing assistant.

Territorial Army (infantry unit) - vacancies for infantrymen, military chef, military clerk, combat medic, musicians and buglers.

Oxford & Cherwell Valley College - promoting apprenticeship vacancies from variety of local organisations that work with the college.

Premier Sports Group (sports coaching) -  two-year sports coaching apprenticeships that have the potential to develop into full-time sports coaches. Two age categories 16-18 years and 19-24.  

Thames Valley Regional Network - promoting apprenticeship provision of their members throughout the Thames Valley.

Unipart Logistics - graduate programme and apprenticeship scheme starting September 2012.

Vinspired - volunteering charity launching a leadership programme - recruiting  75 young leaders from Oxfordshire to run campaigns and social action.  On successful completion of the programme- leaders will have opportunity to apply for personal development grant - which could go towards university fees and training course.

Zenos - (IT support) IT support apprenticeships.

Zeta Compliance Group plc (facilities services and IT development) - vacancies in sales & marketing, office administration, finance, IT and trainee environmental consultants.

Support on offer at the Youth Job Fair:

Guru Manyo Granth Sikh Centre (Sikh charity) - offering a wide range of free training including business skills to all members of the community. Including job seekers development,supervisory skills, GCSE and A Level coaching for science subjects and personal skill development.

Oxford & Cherwell Valley College - wide range of full and part-time courses from entry to degree level.

Oxford Jobcentre - advice, guidance and signposting.

Positive Futures - youth projects.

Tabs Training (government funded training) - various courses including maths, English, vocational, IT and employability training.

Volunteer Centre Oxfordshire, OCVA (volunteering charity) -  hundreds of local volunteering opportunities to help build new skills and experience to better you chances of finding paid work.
